We stand on the cusp of a new year. It’s a “blue moon” moment; a hinge point in the unfolding story of our lives. The joys and the hardships of times past trail behind us. And, by grace, we’re given the gift of new beginnings. I am reminded of the wonderful words of that beloved hymn, “Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!”
“Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine with ten thousand beside.”
It is at just such a moment as this, in the collective history of God’s people, that the Prophet reminds them – encourages them – that the God they follow is a faithful God, a God of mercy and forgiveness, of goodness and love:
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:11-13
A new decade opens, a new year begins, a new day dawns.
God’s blessings and peace to you in all that lies ahead,
- Pastor Brad
And remember: our Wednesday Evening Bible Study, “Journey With Jesus,” begins with a special Epiphany gathering … Wednesday, January 6, at 7:00 pm. It’s a great opportunity to invite new friends to join us!
